Subsidized Atta sales in black market in Khyber

…As residents accuse food inspector, mill owner, other govt officials of diverting the subsidized Atta to the black market 

DISTRICT KHYBER: Residents in Jamrud have said that the government Atta (flour) that has to be sold on subsidized price to give relief to the poor was now allegedly sold in black market in Jamrud and Bazaar Zakhakhel markets.

Residents of Jamrud Jalal Afridi and Saeed Anwar Kokikhel said that food inspector Jamrud Bilal, flour mill owner and some elected local government representatives were involved in this crime. 

They confirmed that each truck supposed to be loaded with 20 kilograms 1226 bags.

 They said each truck when reach Jamrud was counted in which they found only 900 flour bags. 

The Jamrud residents accused the food inspector, mill owner and local government representative were collectively involved in the embezzelment. They said each truck comes with missing of 326 flour bags.

Saeed Anwar said the stolen atta bags were found in Atta shops of Bazaar Zakhakhel markets,the farflung area of Landikotal tehsil.

 It was also learnt that the involved persons including the food inspector change the flour bags so that they it could not be recognized.  

Residents appealed to the chief mimnister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, deputy commissioner Khyber and other concern deparents to take notice of the alleged embezzlement.
