INEC insists Edo, Ondo elections will hold, gives clarification on 2020 recruitment

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has distanced self from the circulating letters of employment.

INEC in a statement published on it’s Facebook page on Saturday, warned the general public to be careful.

The publication warned that INEC was not conducting any recruitment exercise currently.

The publication read “SCAM ALERT!
The attention of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been drawn to the circulation of purported letters of employment/appointment allegedly emanating from the Commission.

“Members of the public are hereby advised/warned that the Commission suspended its recruitment programme in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘Members of the public should disregard rumours of any form of employment/recruitment and treat recruitment/employment letters purportedly emanating from the Commission as a scam and report to the security agencies,” it said.

The commission has however announced on it’s Twitter handle that elections in Edo and Ondo States would still take place despite the COVID 19 pandemic.
