ICPC seeks media partnership on anti graft war in Anambra

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has solicited partnership with the media in the fight against corruption in Anambra State.

State Resident Anti Corruption Commissioner, Mr Godwin Oche disclosed this at the May congress of the Anambra Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Awka.

Oche, represented by a staff of the Commission, Mr. Inalegwu Shaibu, regretted that corruption has been a bane of Nigeria’s development, stressing it was difficult to confront without the media.

“Corruption has been a major problem hindering growth and development of the country. We need the support of the media in the battle to end the menace,” he said.

Earlier, State Chairman of the Council, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu praised members for their steadfastness and commitment to the growth of the union.

Odogwu, represented by the Vice Chairman, Comrade Ngozi Obileri said the May congress was opportunity for the members to brainstorm on issues that would promote progress of the council.

He reminded members of the various programmes slated for the year, urging members to participate actively to realize them.
