Serious prayers must precede swearing-in to avert looming bloodshed – Onitsha cleric

A Christian cleric, Rev. Simeon Umeh has called for intensive prayers by all Nigerians ahead of the May 29 swearing-in of President-elect, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other state governors.

Umeh who made the call in a statement, said the prayers was necessary to pacify the wrath of God upon Nigeria and avert looming bloodshed across the country.

He said the revelation he got from God showed an impending loss of lives ocasioned by increasing atrocities being pepetuated by citizens of the country.

The clergyman, who pastors with United Church of Christ, Onitsha, Anambra State regretted that similar call he made during the reign of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua was not heeded to, hence the unfortunate outcome that followed.

He said, “I got a revelation from God showing me blood of human beings flowing like ocean in Nigeria.

“When I asked for the interpretation, God said that the iniquities of this country were unbearable, more especially in shedding of blood and so many atrocities.

“Before swearing-in of President, governors, Senators, and House of Representatives, Assembly members, serious prayers must be observed, in the office of the President or in any of the governors.

“We ought to pray and plead the mercy of God to blot the sins and pacify the wrath of God against this nation.

“Failure to observe this prayer, the wrath of God is coming against this nation, starting from the authorities of this nation, leaders and throughout the country. Jer. 22:23, Ex.22:27-28, Hab. 2:12.”
