Nobody has been appointed to manage Anambra motor parks – Transport Commissioner

Anambra State government says it is determined to sanitize the transport sector to ensure its internally generated revenue was boosted.

Commissioner for Transport, Mrs Patricia Igwebike disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the ongoing reforms in the motor park management. 

She hinted that government has not appointed any administrator in any motor parks, explaining that it only directed interested persons to apply as park admistrators.

The commissioner warned that government would not tolerate a repeat of history where private individuals invaded motor parks for their selfish interest and money ment to develop the State diverted to private pockets.

She said, “What government is doing is to take a holistic approach to the management of the park with a view to building an effective and efficient management system devoid of corruption and embezzlement of public funds.

“This time government is painstakingly addressing the issue of management of motor parks whereby government takes full control of the park through the motor park Administrators.

“Let me state it categorically clear that government of Anambra State has not appointed any administrator in any motor parks. It just directed interested persons to apply as park admistrators to do so in line with government directives.

“We assure the good people of Anambra state of a level playing ground for a smooth transitional process in the State transport industry.

“Let me restate that the government directives on the ban on touts in the State motor parks is still in full force, and  anybody caught floughting government directives would be made to face the full wait of law.”
