World Book day: Soludo favourably disposed to fighting piracy – Education Commissioner

Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has raised the alarm over growing cases of piracy and its effect in the book industry across the country.

Chuma-Udeh stated this in her office when a delegation of the Nigeria Copywrite Commission paid her a visit in commemoration of World Book and Copy write day.

She described piracy as the act of stealing the intellectual property of an artist, regretting that piracy translates to encouraging the child with a pirated copy of a book that stealing is good.

She promised that Mr Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo was favourably disposed to fighting every fabric of evil in the society.

Describing books as source of the total knowledge which one acquires, the Commissioner Chuma-Udeh noted that writing remained one of the most wonderful works one could engage in.

“Writing is one of the most wonderful works one can engage in. I am a writer and a proud one at that,” she said.

Earlier, Anambra State Coordinator of the Nigeria Copywrite Commission, Mr Gabriel Anikwe expressed excitement that the President of Association of Nigerian Authors is selected by the Anambra State Commissioner for Education.

He requested for the Commissioner’s support in their war against piracy.
