Truck driver kills shuttle bus passenger injure three in Anambra

A middle-aged man was crushed to death by an articulated vehicle along Awka Enugu express way, Amansea, Anambra State.

The accident which occurred around 8.40pm, involved the truck and a shuttle bus.

According to eyewitnesses, the truck driver was on excessive speed leading to loss of control and crashing into the shuttle bus.

They said one of the passengers died instantly while the others were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Confirming the incident, Ag. Sector Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, Kamal Musa said the deceased was taken away by the Fulani group from Amansea.

He said, “At about 2040hrs on Wednesday 19th August, 2020, a fatal Road Traffic Crash involving a red Mark Trailer with enlistment number JJT 206 ZY and a Whit/Blue shuttle bus with registration number NEN 04 XQ, was recorded this evening at Amansea, after Stanel filling station along Awka Enugu express way.

“The crash also involved a total of Four(4) male adults. One male adult a Fulani man, who died instantly was taken away by the Fulani group from Amansea.

“The three ( 3) injured victims were rushed to AMAKU General hospital Awka by FRSC rescue team from Awka, for medical attention.

“Obstructions were cleared by the team and normal traffic flow ensured.

“The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, Andrew A. Kumapayi sends his condolences to the family of the killed victim.

“He strongly warns motorists against speeding, especially within built-up areas. Drivers should drive with maximum concentration, applying common sense speed limits and must tolerate other road users. Road Traffic Crashes are avoidable.”
