A worshiper was shot dead by gunmen on Saturday night in Riyom Local Government of Plateau State.
THE DAILY VENDOR learnt that the deceased identified as Lyop Dalyop was killed shortly after returning from the church where she had gone to sweep on Saturday evening.
It was gathered that the incident occurred in Bachi community around 8 pm.
Confirming the attack, the National President of Berom Youth Moulders Association, Dalyop Mwantiri, said the armed men were suspected to be Fulani militants.
The youth leader said “Just some minutes ago, armed men suspected to be Fulani militias short dead one Mrs Lyop Dalyop of Bangai villages in Bachi District, Riyom LGA
“From what I was told, the incident occurred at about 8:05 pm of today, 27th August 2022 shortly after she returned from sweeping COCIN Church Bangai.
“She went out to ease herself after returning from sweeping the Church against tomorrow’s service. Then an armed Fulani just appeared from nowhere and shot her in the head.
“The attack took place after a Fulani boy was spotted spying the area earlier this evening.
“Some neighbours who heard the gunshot rushed to her house and found her in the pool of her own blood. She died a few minutes after”
The Police Public Relations Officer for the Plateau State Police Command, Alabo Alfred, is yet to confirm or react to the attack as at press time.
