…as 517 prospective corps members deployed to serve in Delta State were dislodged to hold their orientation course in Anambra
A total of 1640 corps members were on Tuesday sworn in for the 2022 Batch “C” Stream 2 orientation course in Anambra State.
The State Coordinator, Mrs. Blessing Iruma who disclosed this during the swearing in at the permanent Orientation Camp, said the figure comprised 1123 deployed to the state and 517 dislodged from Delta State.
She said the deployment of corps members from Delta State was informed by the ongoing national sports festival in the State.
She said, “I’m delighted to report that as at close of registration, we’ve registered a total of 1123 corps members comprising 471 males and 652 females are formed up for the swearing ceremony.
“A total of 517 prospective corps members comprising 157 males and 360 females deployed to serve in Delta State were dislodged to hold their orientation course in Anambra.
“Delta camp isn’t readily available because of the ongoing national sports festival in the state. Others are deployed to Rivers and Edo; but they will return to their various states of deployment after the camp.”
While congratulating the corps members on successful completion of their students which qualified them for the national service, Iruma urged them to quickly adapt to the regimented programme, as they utilize the time to contribute their qouta to development of the state, especially the education sector.
“NYSC will continue to support the government in ensuring manpower deployment for health care delivery to the rural areas where they are needed and agricultural extension work to boost food production,” she added.
Acting Director General, NYSC, Mrs. Christy Uba urged the corps members to sustain the high level of discipline and enthusiasm they have so far demonstrated, especially by remaining compliant with Camp rules and regulations.
“You must continue to distance yourselves from cultism, drug abuse and other social vices. Also avoid using social media for spreading fake news, fueling hatred and other negative purposes,” she added.
Uba further appealed for the support of all stakeholders in the call for the establishment of the NYSC Trust Fund which is already awaiting accent by the President, saying it would enhance smooth operations of the scheme.
