BREAKING: Monarch killed as Bandits go on rampage in Katsina

In what appears to be a reprisal attack bandits in the early hours of today Monday 1st June raided Yantumaki community Inin Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State and killed its traditional ruler, the Hakimin Garin Yantumaki, Alhaji Atiku Maidabino.

The DAILY VENDOR gathered that the gunmen invaded the community at about 12:30 am on motorcycles and headed straight to the monarch’s home.

According to reports, the bandits gained entrance to the monarch’s house and shot him severally at close range. The bandits then hurriedly left the community on their motorcycles.

The bandits had stormed the community from the neighbouring dreaded ruga forest where several of them are known to operate from and where the state Governor had earlier visited to brocker peace with them.

However, the monarch’s body was said to have been deposited at the Danmusa General Hospital and would be buried later on Monday according to Islamic rites.

The incident comes less than 24 hours after bandits also shot and killed the chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Batsari council area, Abdulhamid Mamman.

It would be recalled that the state Government has mandated the military to flush out all bandits from the ruga forest saying that since they didn’t obey the peace accord it is therefore necessary to get rid of them.

The government directed those that have repented to come out of the forest and surrender their arms or else they will also face the full wrath of the law.
