10 injured as 5 vehicles crash in Anambra

No fewer than ten persons on Thursday sustained varying degrees of injury in a multiple vehicle accident at Immigration junction Agu-Awka, along Awka- Enugu express way, Anambra State.

The accident which occurred around 7.45am involved five vehicles and one motorcycle.

According to eyewitness, the crash occurred as a result of excessive speeding leading to loss of control of the bus and crashing eventually.

Confirming the incident, the Ag. Sector Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kamal Musa said a total of twenty persons were involved in the crash.

He said, “At about 0745 hrs this morning 12th November, 2020. Ten People were injured in serious multiple Crashes involving five vehicles and one motorcycle.

“An ash Toyota Corolla car with registration number FST 732 ES , a blue Toyota matrix saloon with registration number FST 252 GG, a white Toyota hiace bus with registration number AKL 981 YP , a green Toyota fatbed with registration number NSH 262 ZF , a red truck with registration number DKD 198 XA and a red mat90 motorcycle with registration number JRV 566 QE recorded at immigration junction Agu-Awka, along Awka- Enugu express way.

“It also involved a total of twenty nine ( 29) people consisting of (20) male adults and (9) female adults. Seven (7) male adults and (3) female adults who sustained varying degree of injuries were rushed to priston hospital Awka by FRSC rescue team from the Sector Command while obstruction is being cleared.

“The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, Andrew A. Kumapayi wishes the injured victims quick recovery and admonishes motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits stipulated by law in built-up areas as road traffic Crashes are avoidable.”
