The Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate for Ihiala federal constituency, Barr Johnmary Akachukwu Maduakolam, has unveiled his manifesto to the constituents.

The House of Reps hopeful unveiled his manifesto in his Azia residence in the Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The YPP candidate, during the presentation, said that the decision to present the working document to his people was to enable them to measure his performance in the National Assembly.

“Many aspirants and candidates at our level of competition usually tell the people what they intend to do and go away, but I have decided to step up the game by officially presenting my manifesto.

“The working document will help constituents measure my achievements in the House of Representatives. I know that people are not making demands from previous occupants of the position because they don’t have anything to hold them to.

“This 16-page manifesto is a manifestation of our desire to take democratic representation to a high level and also an indication of our determination to break away from the past.” The UK-trained lawyer explained.

The YPP House of Representatives candidate for the Ihiala federal constituency, while shedding more light on the manifesto, said, “It is a blueprint for a better Ihiala. This blueprint comes with a mnemonic, CLEAN, which stands for Creative Economy,  Leadership, Education, Agriculture, and Naissant infrastructures. The creative economy, among other things, seeks to digitalise Ihiala and open up streams of opportunities in digital space for the youths to build skills, create jobs and create generations of digitally-skilled youths.

“The “L” representing leadership offers an alternative to the poor leadership the people of Ihiala experience from their representatives. For instance, I intend to constitute the Elders’ forum, made up of illustrious sons and daughters of Ihiala, six months after the election to act as conscience and ensure dividends of democracies get to the grassroots.

“In the area of education, among other things, we intend to build on the JAMIE scheme to improve education, renovate classrooms and build dormitories and make legislation to digitalise the process to ease the collection of transcripts in public universities.

“In Agriculture, we intend to assist farmers with loans,  revitalise Oseakwa rice and rebrand Ada Ogbe gin to compete with other brands. And “N” stands for Naissant infrastructures.

Barr Maduakolam said further that he intends to attract federal projects to Ihiala federal constituency noting that he plans to facilitate the construction of a maritime transport system connecting Ihiala to places like Calabar to enable the transportation of food products from the area.

“The manifesto also has plans to empower women by protecting their rights, ensuring they are trained in skills acquisition and bringing them to decision-making.

“The document has a section detailing how these projects will be funded through public and private partnerships, constituency projects’ funds and the contributions of illustrate sons and daughters of Ndị Ihiala in different walks of life.” The YPP candidate asserted.

A stakeholder from the Okija community in Ihiala federal constituency, Chief Christian Nwosu (Okemili Okija) appreciated the YPP candidate and his team for bringing up a new and positive approach to representation in the constituency, which he said can lift many people out of poverty.

Chief Nwosu said emphatically that no candidate has ever presented his manifesto to the people in the area.

“This is a very good development and an indication of sincerity and seriousness to serve the people, I commend Barr Maduakolam and I again recommend him for the position again.” He concluded.
