Women groups excited over peace in Anambra community 5years after, appreciate security operatives

Some groups of women in Isuaniocha community of Awka North local government area of Anambra state have donated food items to some security agents who were in the area for peace keeping mission.

The donated items included rice, garri, dry fish, ogbono, egusi, tin tomatoes, maggi, among other food condiments.

Spokesperson of the group, Mrs Alice Chukwukeluo on Friday expressed joy over the relative peace gradually returning to the community, attributing the breakthrough to moves made by the family of Chief Tony Onyeagolu.

“We have been living in fear and tears following the crisis that erupted in the community five years ago leaving many people dead and houses destroyed.

“We decided to donate food items to the security personnel and others involved in the process for their upkeep,” she said.

Another group of women, Concerned Women of Isuaniocha, led by Mrs Chinyere Nweke also stormed the place with food items while singing victory songs of peace and joy.

“Although the Onyeagolu family of Otoko village, and few others were at the receiving end of the crisis as their residential houses were destroyed, they still embraced peace five years after they were chased out of the town,” he said.

Receiving the items, a community leader, Chief Paulynus Onyeagolu described peace as a panacea to development of any society.

He praised the group for the decision to extend the generosity amidst bearing the brunt of the damages done to their houses and means of livelihood.
