Primary school teachers’ nonchalant attitude in Anambra worrisome – ASUBEB

Dedicated Primary School teachers are supposed to be in school before the morning assembly which starts by 7.30 am

The Chairman of Anambra Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, Dr. Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi has described as worrisome lackadaisical attitude of teachers in primary schools in Anambra State.

She tasked teachers in the basic education sector on the highest standard.

Speaking during a monitoring tour of select-primary schools in Nsugbe, Anambra East Council Area, Nwadinobi said genuine desire of the present administration was to replicate top notch high standards in Anambra Schools.

She said, “Governor Soludo is a disciplined teacher who is passionate about high standards of teachers and teaching.

“His intention is to replicate top notch high standards in Anambra Schools.

“It’s disappointing that punctuality is a major problem for teachers, even the head teachers are not an exception.

“Only ten out of twenty nine teachers in one of the schools I visited were present as at the time of morning assembly, until 8:00 am when I left.

“Dedicated teachers are supposed to be in school before the morning assembly which starts by 7.30 am. You must change your lackadaisical attitude and become more serious and dedicated to your duties for maximum performance of pupils.

Describing education as foundational level and delicate, the commissioner warned that disciplinary actions would henceforth be meted out on teachers that played with his/her job, insisting it would no longer be business as usual.
