No hiding place for touts in Building Materials market – President General

…says the presence of touts in building material and other markets will soon be a thing of the past

Leadership of Building Materials International Market, Ogidi, Anambra State has warned touts in the market to steer clear of the market or have themselves to blame.

The President General of the market, Chief Jude Nwankwo stated this weekend during a special prayer and thanksgiving service to mark the end of the year and to usher in the New Year held at the market.

He restated that touts have no place in any markets in the State, assuring traders that in no distant time, the presence of touts in the markets will be a thing of the past.

He recalled the bleak economic outlook of the year and expressed joy that the market survived against all odds, made appreciable progress and noted that with God’s guidance, the market witnessed quantum leap in major sectors of the economy.

Nwankwo, who is also a patron of Anambra State Amalgamated Market Traders Association, ASMATA, urged traders to key into government policies especially in internally generated revenue.

“The IGR will pave way for good roads, electricity, schools, industrialization among others,” he added.

One of the founders of the market, Sir Mark Aguiyi and a Woman Leader in the market, Mrs. Queen Nebo, applauded the market executive for their commitment to making the market the best in the state.

They noted that the monthly prayer has brought about increased love and togetherness for the success of all traders.

A trader in the market, Obinna Ogu who benefited from the cash support, as well as a representative of the physically challenged students, Oluchukwu Azike showered encomiums on Nwankwo-led administration for their care and love.

“We’re grateful to the market leadership for being a shoulder to lean on at a very difficult moment of our lives. We pray for Gods blessings upon them,” they said.

The event featured a festival of carols and nine lessons, a minute silence for their departed members, presentation of awards to newly inducted patrons and a cash support of N500,000 to each of the traders facing difficulties in their businesses.

Bags of rice, noodles and toiletries among others, were also distributed to members of the market, orphanage homes, beggars, the physically challenged, and the less privileged persons in the community.
