NIS to partner FRSC in saving lives, property of motoring public in Anambra

The newly appointed Comptroller of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Anambra State, CIS Dr G.O Nwoke has pledged to partner with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to serve the people of the state in saving lives and property on the road. 

She made the pledge during a courtesy visit to the Sector Commander FRSC, Anambra state Command, Corps Commander Adeoye A Irelewuyi in his office.

Nwoke noted that her visit to FRSC Command followed her new appointment as the Comptroller of Immigration the State.

She said she cherished collaboration between sisters agencies and looked forward to working together as a team. 

According to the NIS boss, apart from passport her organisation is known for, NIS has other functions, including training of security targeted at manning boarders to avoid illegal immigrants from entering Nigeria.

“On investigation, we go round to check if immigrants documents are up to date and ensure those on visiting visa don’t work because they are not permitted to.

“We also visits hotels to fish out under aged girls involved in prostitution, and also check out for human trafficking,” she said.

Nwoke appealed to the Command to assist in fishing out all manners of illegal activities of immigrants and report as soon as possible.

While pledging support towards the ongoing enforcement of number plate and drivers license, the CIS urged officers and men of the Command to keep up the good work.

Responding, FRSC Sector Commander, Corps Commander Adeoye A Irelewuyi pledged to maintain 100% synergy with the Nigeria Immigration Service in the state.

He informed the CIS that the Command has enjoyed good collaboration with Immigration and has been privileged to meet and work with three Comptrollers in the state on the ongoing enforcement of number plate and drivers license.

“The Command will be embarking on mobile court sitting begining from February, 2024 which has been domicile for more than 2 years now. 

“We also emphasize the importance of proper registration of vehicles to avert incident of stolen vehicles,” he added. 

Highlights of the visit was quarter guard and presentation of llague by the Sector Commander and presentation of books written by the Comptroller to the Sector Commander.

Officers with the Comptroller on the Visit are, DCI MH Machie, ACI E Okonkwo, SI NV Ifboelinwa, ASI OU Anene, PRO Immigration.

While the Sector Commander on the Visit were; Head AHR DCC C Akachukwu, DCC Ops  DCC OA Awassam, DCC TSD DCC, C Okonkwo, DCC TRG DCC GI Omeke, DCC PRS DCC GA Ezugwu.
