Police denies Fulani herdsmen camp in Anambra community

Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Zone 13 Command Headquarters Ukpo, AIG Godwin Ndidi Aghaulor has debunked widespread reports circulating on social media platforms alleging establishment of a camp or community for Fulani Herdsmen by Prince Engr. Arthur Eze.

The Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, IHUNWO JOSEPHINE, in a statement said investigation revealed that no such camp or community existed as depicted in the circulated audio-visual material.

She said the allegations were fabricated by individuals affiliated with the ESN/IPOB, aimed at tarnishing the reputation of Prince Engr. Arthur Eze and instigating unrest in Anambra State.

The statement reads, “Under the leadership of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Abagana, the investigative team meticulously conducted inquiries within the specified areas. Their exhaustive efforts concluded with the finding that no such camp or community, as depicted in the circulated audio-visual material, exists.

“Further validation was provided by Gidado Sadiki-Sarki Fulani, the Head/leader of the Fulani community in Anambra State, who categorically denounced the misinformation as false, baseless, and intended to disrupt the harmonious relationship between Fulanis and indigenes of Anambra.

“The investigation uncovered a disturbing motive behind the dissemination of these falsehoods. It was revealed that the allegations were fabricated by individuals affiliated with the ESN/IPOB, aimed at tarnishing the reputation of Prince Engr. Arthur Eze and instigating unrest in Anambra State, particularly within the ENUGU-AGIDI and UKPO regions.

“The AIG reiterates unequivocally that there is no credence to the claims of a Fulani Herdsmen camp in the area. The public is urged to disregard such rumors and to remain vigilant against the spread of misinformation.

“Additionally, thorough investigations will continue to identify and hold accountable those responsible for perpetuating these malicious falsehoods.

“However, the AIG encourages the good people of Anambra to be on the lookout and report any suspicious camps seen or sighted around to the nearest police station.”
