Senator Ahmad Lawan, currently the president of the Senate, are among the 10 senators with no bill to their name since the inauguration ninth National Assembly.
The names on the list below, indicates that both major parties, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have equal representation on the list.
Below is a full list of the 10 senators, according to the report by Daily Trust:
- Ahmad Lawan, president of the Senate
- Adamu Bulkachuwa (APC, Bauchi state)
- Ibrahim Shekarau, former governor of Kano state (APC, Kano state)
- Christopher Stephen Ekpenyong (PDP, Akwa Ibom state)
- Godiya Akwashiki (APC, Nasarawa state)

- Emmanuel Yisa Orker-jev (PDP, Benue state)
- Kabir Abdullahi Barkiya (APC, Katsina state)
- Nicholas Olubukola Tofowomo (PDP, Ondo state)
- Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi (PDP, Delta state)
- Lawali Hassan Anka (PDP, Zamfara state)
It could be recalled that the 9th Senate was inaugurated on 11 June, 2019. Since then, over 450 bills have been reportedly introduced.
Some explanations were given based on this development by the listed senators.
Senator Shekarau explained that he was recently working on a bill to amend the Pension Act.
In the other hand, Senator Bulkachuwa said though he did not have any bill to his name alone, he co-sponsored some.
In another report gathered, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele has explained the alleged reason why some of his colleagues are against the publication of their salaries and allowances.
Bamidele who is chairman of Senate committee on judiciary, human rights and legal matters, claimed lawmakers are against making their salaries public because of national security.
There has been a lot of uproar over the welfare package of the federal lawmakers, with many Nigerians calling for its reduction.
Bamidele said he had been pushing for salaries and allowances to be made public, but some members had expressed reservations for the reason of national security.
It was gathered that the lawmaker also noted that some bills are contributing to the misunderstanding of the ninth National Assembly by Nigerians.
In the last one year, some of the private member bills sponsored by the federal lawmakers for consideration and possible passage have been generating controversy.
Senator Bamidele said the bills were wrongly perceived by Nigerians regardless of the intention of the sponsors.
