Katsina Police Command intensifies onslaught against recalcitrant bandits, others

The Katsina State Police Command has recorded some major breakthroughs in their onslaughts against bandits and other criminal elements in the state.

The news of the breakthrough was contained in press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO of the command, Gambo Isah(SP)

Isah said that on Monday morning, based on credible intelligence, DPO Kankara Division led a team of policemen to Mararabar-Gurbi, a notorious cattle route used by bandits.

The PPRO revealed that the bandits who are armed with sophisticated weapons were passing with rustled domestic animals but were intercepted and on sighting the police operatives, engaged them in a gun duel.

“As a result of which three bandits were neutralized while others fled into the forest with possible gunshot wounds. In the course of investigation, one AK 49 assault rifle, one hundred and sixty cows, one hundred and seventy sheep and two motorcycles were recovered at the scene.

“Also on Sunday at about 8:30am, based on credible intelligence, O/C Anti Kidnapping Unit led combine teams of police operatives and vigilante group to Unguwar Mai Kawo forest, Bakori LGA and a raided a bandits’ hideout, which led to the arrest of the duo of twenty five year old Buhari Yusuf and thirty year old Usaman Alh Bammi, both of unguwar mai kawo village, Kafur LGA of Katsina state, the notorious bandits that masterminded the killing of one Alh. Ibrahim Fatahi of Jar-Gaba village, Bakori.

“Two AK 47 rifles were also recovered in connection with the commission of the offence, which suspects confessed to belong to one of their members, one Babangida (now at large).” He said.

The PPRO said that earlier on 10th April at about 1.00pm, the command in collaboration with local vigilante group, arrested forty year old Ibrahim Ma’aruf, alias “RISKU” of Tashar Bokiti, Runka village of Safana LGA of Katsina state.

He said that the suspect is a notorious armed dealer, kidnaper and a cattle rustler noting that nemesis caught up with the hoodlum when he was accosted at a spot between Dutsin-ma and Safana LGA of Katsina state, with forty rustled cows.

He said that the suspect had earlier abandoned ninety-six rounds of 7.62mm ammunition of AK 47 rifle and the sum of seven hundred and eighty thousand Naira (N780,000:00K) at a police nipping point along Dutsinma to Safana road, fled and escaped police arrest.
