Herders strike again in Benue, kill 3

Suspected herders again killed three persons in a community in the Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

The suspected herders were said to have invaded Ngban community in Guma local government Sunday evening.

Suspected herders had been attacking governor Samuel Ortom council area.

Last three weeks had been horrible in  some communities in the same local government as no fewer than 13 persons were killed at Tse Numgbera, Umella, Yogbo and Ukohol communities all in the LGA.

The latest attack, according to locals, happened around 4pm on Sunday when suspected herders invaded  Ngbea under Nyiev council Ward of Guma local government.

“They were Fulani herders. They came in their numbers and attacked our village around 4pm yesterday (Sunday) Three people were killed”, a local who identified himself as Iorhemen said.

When contacted, the State Command spokesperson, Catherine Anene confirmed the attack.

She said, “Three persons were killed in an attack at Guma, corpses have been removed to Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi, while investigation is ongoing.”
