Gabriel Jesus reveals who influenced him to join Gunners

‘Jesus details how Brazilian Edu Gaspar convinced him to move to London’

The Arsenal’s striker, Gabriel Jesus has revealed the person who influenced his decision to move to the Emirates.

The Brazilian International left Manchester City for Arsenal over the summer and he said the Gunners have allowed him to play ‘with happiness on his face’.

Jesus, who joined the Gunners in a £45 million deal, has got off to a flyer, scoring four goals and three assists in seven league games.

Mikel Arteta’s side is top of the Premier League heading into a north London derby clash with Tottenham.

Jesus details how the technical director and fellow Brazilian Edu Gaspar convinced him to move to London.

“Edu came to talk with me, he asked me the first question,” Jesus recalled.

“He asked me, ‘I want to talk with you because I want the old Gabriel, I don’t want this Gabriel, I want the Gabriel one season, two seasons ago, not this Gabriel, so what do you want?

“I was straight direct with him, I told what I was thinking, I don’t want excuses, I understand the time, the momentum, and then I was talking with him and I said ‘look I want to come back, but for me to come back I have to play football by happiness in my face’.

“He said ‘Is that what we want? OK you want what I want, so let’s do it. Of course he was a big influence as well for me to join Arsenal.”
