Explosion averted as tanker falls in Anambra community 

…The Daily Vendor learnt that the explosion was averted following timely response by fire fighters

A fire explosion was on Tuesday averted in Ogbunike in Oyi local government area of the state following a sudden fall of a 33,000 litres diesel tanker in the area.

The tanker driver was said to have lost control while diverting to a Filling Station along Onitsha-Enugu Expressway.

The Daily Vendor gathered that no life was lost in incident.

Confirming the incident, Fire Chief, Engr Martin Agbili said the cause of the incident was as a result of lost of control of the tanker driver.

He said, “At about 1405hrs, Anambra State Fire Service, received a distress call of a fallen 33,000 litres tanker while diverting to Ndumore Oil & Gas Filling Station along Onitsha-Enugu Expressway, between toll gate and slaughter, Ogbunike.

“Immediately, we deployed our fire truck and firefighters to the incident scene which caused a heavy traffic at the Expressway.

“We thank God that the suppose fire outbreak which would have emanated from it was averted. There was no lost of life.

“Our quick and timely response and the use of our chemical foam compound prevented fire outbreak and we saved lives and properties of the public around. 

“Kudos to our fearless and hardworking firefighters. Always avoid anything which can cause fire outbreak at this season.”
