EndSARS: Five Enugu bars to offer free legal service to victims of police brutality

The Committee of Bar Chairmen, Enugu State of the Nigerian Bar Association have set up a committee that will offer pro-bono legal services to represent all indigent complainants to the Enugu State Police brutality and extra judicial killings panel.

The Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi had on October 21st, 2020, inaugurated an 8-man judicial panel of inquiry to; receive and investigate complaints of police brutality and/or related extra judicial killings in the state. The Committee is chaired by Hon. Justice Kingsley Ude (Rtd).

In a press statement, signed by Chief Nnadiume Awforkansi (Chairman Ezeagu Bar) and Barr. Jude Ezegwui (Chairman Enugu Bar) for and on behalf of the Five Bar Chairmen in Enugu State, the Committee informed the general public to reach them via the following numbers; 08033603230, 08034930282, 08068094378 and 08038290445 should they need the services of the committee.

Chief Nnadiume Awforkansi will serve as the co-coordinating Chairman of the Committee.

Also in the Committee are; Mr. Charles Ugwu, Dr. Godstime Okafor, Ezeh Chijioke, Ifeanyi Adani, Uwakwe Abugu, Imoke Godwin Agbor, O.j Uchenna, S.O. Abangwu, Obi K. Odo, Eze Lawretta Chinelo, Chief C.A. Chukwuedozie.

Other members are; Angela Adili, Hon. Seth Nwokolo, Mr. Agaraoji, Mr. Uwgwoke Ik, Mr. Ejike Ugwu and Mr. E.O Nwafor.
