Emulate Anikwenwa’s ecumenical lifestyle – Soludo charges clergymen

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has described former Dean, Church of Nigeria, Archbishop of the defunct Province Two, pioneer Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, late Most Rev. Maxwell Anikwenwa as a true servant of God.

He said the life of the deceased reflected ecumenism which his administration stands for, urging other ministers of God to emulate such lifestyle for peaceful society.

Soludo spoke through his deputy, Dr. Onyekachi Ibezim at Paul University, Awka during a Day of Tribute organized by Awka Diocese in honour of the departed prelate.

He also described the death as a great loss to both the church, Anambra State and Nigeria.

He said, “Archbishop Maxwell Anikwenwa is a true servant of God whose life reflected ecumenism which our administration stands for in the pursuit of the actualization of the targeted better Anambra.”

While commiserating with the deceased family, Soludo encouraged them to take solace in the fact that their late father lived a good life and served God and humanity well.

Earlier, Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim noted that late prelate left indelible legacies in Anglican communion and the larger society, which will remain relevant in generations to come.

He expressed hope that the departed is in heaven with the Lord.

Chairman on the occasion and Pro-chancellor of Paul University Engr. Chris Okoye thanked God for a life well spent by the deceased, noting that his contributions in the propagation of gospel of Jesus Christ and development of the society were unparalleled.

The event featured series of hymns and choir renditions.
