Driver injured as car plunges into drainage in Anambra

A middle-aged man on Friday sustained serious injury in a lone accident at Nkutaku Agulu, along Ekwulobia-Agulu road, Anambra State.

The accident which occurred around 3.50pm involved a black coloured Honda Pilot with registration number FST568EH.

The DAILY VENDOR learnt that driver of the vehicle veered off the road and plunged into the gutter following loss of control.

The Sector Public Education Officer,
Federal Road Safety Corps, Pascal Anigbo, confirmed the incident, attributing it to over speeding.

He said, “At about 3.50pm today Friday 29 May, 2020 a serious lone Road Traffic Crash (RTC) involving a black coloured Honda Pilot with registration number FST568EH was recorded at Nkutaku Agulu, along Ekwulobia-Agulu road.

“According to eyewitnesses, the crash was caused by excessive speed leading to Loss of Control as the vehicle veered into the gutter.

“The driver who was alone in the vehicle sustained some degree of injury, he was rushed to an unknown hospital by the villagers before the arrival of the FRSC rescue team from Nanka Outpost.

“The team however cordoned off the area to prevent further crash and with assistance of the villagers, the vehicle was removed from the gutter to a safer place, freeing the road from further obstruction.

“The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, CC Andrew A. kumapayi, warns drivers against driving above stipulated speed limits, especially within built-up areas.

“Drivers are also advised to plan their journey so as to prevent unnecessary rush, which in most cases lead to avoidable Road Traffic Crashes.”
