The Ebonyi State Governor, Chief David Umahi yesterday said that he has been informed of plot by the Former Senate President, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, the first Civilian Governor of the state, Senator Sam Egwu to sponsor cultist and Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB to commence killing of innocent people of the State in the name of fighting the state government.
Others the State Governor also accused in the mastermind of the killings includes, the Senator Representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial zone, Senator Obinna Ogba, the National Vice Chairman of People’s Democratic Party PDP South East, Chief Ali Odefa among others.
Briefing journalist after the State Security Council meeting at the Old government house Abakaliki, Governor Umahi stated that he had to share the information with security Chiefs in the State to enable them invite them to ascertain the authenticity of the information or otherwise.
He stated that the aforementioned individuals are known to have fought all previous administrations in the state adding that at each period, there was killings and destruction of properties.
According to Governor Umahi; “I want the press to report that I have reported an allegation of some Ebonyi people that are engaging cultist and according to them, some IPOB members in the name of fighting government. The people are, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, Dr. Sam Egwu, Senator Obinna Ogba, Ali Odefa and others”.
“This ia the information, I got and I want to share it with security agencies. The reason is that every government in this state has been fought by the same set of people. It is interesting to note that the same Anyim Pius Anyim fought Dr. Sam Egwu and unfortunately people were killed”.
“Am not saying that that this information is true or not, when am told about such information, I need to raise an alarm and am praying to God that it should not be true. I have asked the security agencies to reach out to them”.
“There party will exist very peacefully in the state. Nobody is going to harrass them but it is important to put them on notice that this is what we heard. It is something we need to bring to the notice of the public”.
“God forbid that the information is not true. Let is be known that I got this information and shared it with security agents. I have directed security agents to reach them to assure them that nobody will harrass them or stop their activities in the state”.
“I want to warn them that if they want to fight me, this will be there last fight in Ebonyi”
Governor Umahi also directed security agencies in the state to ensure strict compliance to the policies on tinted glass, siren and police escorts adding that many people who use them are not entitled to them.
“I have also directed security agencies to ensure that the policies on tinted glasses, Use of Siren and Police escorts are strictly complied to. Many people that use them are not entitled to them”.
“The same set of people use police escorts and Siren and when they get to the locality to show power, the police escorts start shooting into the air. We don’t want that anymore in Ebonyi State”.
Governor Umahi also noted that the State government has set up a 7 man security committee to resolve and ensure that those involved in killings in the different warring communities in the state face the law. Ends.
