The Ondo State House of Assembly members have this afternoon served an impeachment notice on the Deputy Governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi.
In the notice, the lawmakers accused the Deputy Governor of gross misconduct.
The DAILY VENDOR reported earlier that Ajayi recently dumped the All Progressives Congress for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and has maintained that he will remain in office.
He has further indicated interest in running in the forthcoming governorship election.
The Nation reports that 14 lawmakers supported the impeachment of Ajayi.
At today’s plenary, heavy security presence was noticed at the Ondo State House of Assembly as the lawmakers were holding plenary.
About 10 vans belonging to the men of the Nigeria Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were sighted at the premises. The security operatives mounted at strategic locations within and outside the Assembly.
There were also reports that journalists at the complex were turned back by the security personnel.
