Anambra Ministry of Agriculture to rehabilitate over 20 tractors for farming season

The Anambra State Ministry of Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export in Anambra state is to rehabilitate and engage over twenty tractors this farming season.

This is part of efforts to ensure and sustain food sufficiency in Anambra State at post Covid-19 pandemic era.

The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Nkem Okeke disclosed this during the inspecting of some broken down tractors at the State Ministry of Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export, as well as Awkuzu Tractor Base.

Dr Okeke assured that the tractors are to be repaired in no distance time so as to be deployed to this year’s farming season as the tractors will help the State improve in farm production which will be enough for both consumption and export.

He also stated that the ones that are beyond repairs will be replaced by the state government and advised those in charge of the rehabilitation of the machines to judiciously use the fund that was allocated for the purpose.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Farm Implements and Mechanization, Mr Paul Nwosu, also assured that the funds allocations for the machines repair will be properly utilized.

He equally affirmed that with the tractors, there will be a great boost in the agricultural sector in the state come 2021.
