Alleged murder of a young man at Awkuzu, Anambra CP orders full-scale investigation, sues for calm

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Monday Bala Kuryas(CP) on Wednesday ordered immediate launch of a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of thecitizen.

This fact was contained in a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO of the command, Ikenga Tochukwu (DSP)

The CP gave the order while receiving the family of the deceased, Ugochukwu Onwuzulike later identified as Ugochukwu Onwuzulike in his office at the State Headquarters in Awka.

The Commissioner of Police, while commiserating with the family, colleagues and friends of the deceased, expressed sadness over the incident and appealed to all concerned to maintain calm.

He reassured them of the command’s commitment to thoroughly investigate and bring the perpetrators to book, while calling on residents of the State to assist the police with useful information that will aid the success of the investigation.

Meanwhile, the PPRO said that information available to the command revealed that the deceased was shot by an unknown person suspected to be in an escort convoy, while he was riding a motorcycle, on Tuesday 20th April, 2021 at about 12:40pm at Awkuzu Junction, along Onitsha Expressway.

The unconscious body of victim according to the PPRO was taken a nearby hospital by police operatives attached to Oyi Police Division of the Command who swiftly responded to a distress call on the incident.

He said that the deceased was later confirmed dead by the medical doctor on duty.
