2nd Niger Bridge: Accelerate Completion Of Access Roads – Ohanaeze VP urges FG

Vice President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke Ogene has urged Federal government to accelerate completion of access roads to the second Niger Bridge to achieve the purpose of the project.

He described the project as critical for socioeconomic growth of not only Anambra State and Southeast region but the entire Nigeria.

He said, “The completion of the project will ensure free movement of heavy volumes of goods and service to various parts of the country.

“It will also reduce pressure on the old Niger Bridge as well as provide permanent solution to the challenges of traffic gridlock in that axis, especially during festive period.”

The Ohaneze VP further urged government to put in place effective and efficient security measures, including installation of close circuit television CCTV to protect the facility from vandalism.

While urging communities to use the festive period to plan community development projects, Okeke Ogene however regretted increasing economic challenges that had denied many the opportunity to travel home for yuletide.

“The economic hardship including naira scarcity, high cost of petroleum products and transport fares have denied many people the opportunity to travel home for yuletide.

“There’s need to sustain efforts towards restoring local refining of petroleum products to make the products available and affordable.

“The federal government should also explore political options to release the leader of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, since a sitting Governor has volunteered to take him on bail.

“His release will ensure peace and stability in the Southeast region,” he added.
