KHYBER: Unidentified armed men martyred two soldiers of the Frontier Corps(FC) in Tirah Valley of upper of the Khyber Tribal district on Monday, official and local sources said.
The sources that the personnel of the bomb disposal squad were on duty for clearing the roadside when militants opened gun firing on them in Mamal Pati area in Tirah upper Bara tehsil.
Initial reports said two soldiers identified as Gul Khan and Noor Muhammad embraced martyrdom in the attack on spot.
As the incident happened,officials said,the security forces have also returned the fire but the miscreants flee from the scene.
Soon after the killings of soldiers, the security forces and police reached the place and cordoned off the area but no arrest was made so far.
It may be added that target killings,suicide bombing and attacks on the security forces and civil administration installations highly increased in the past weeks that spread a wave of fear and anxiety among general public in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Tribal districts.
