The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has concluded plans to replicate content of the Healthy Living pet project of Wife of Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nonye Soludo in all the 179 communities of the state.
The State Coordinator, NYSC, Mrs Blessing Ekene Iruma disclosed this at a symposium on Healthy Living Advocacy organized by the ASATU Youth at the ASATU Secretariat Hall, Government House, Awka.
Iruma, represented by Assistant Director, Information, Emeka Ugwu said the First Lady’s project is not only noble but has semblance of NYSC’s Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers and should be adopted by NYSC and replicated in all the 179 communities in the state.
According to her, the scheme has enough corps doctors, pharmacists, nurses, physiotherapists and other paramedics to carry out the assignment.
“The areas of coverage include free sensitization campaigns, medical checkup, counseling, dignosis, referral and prescription.
“Any community that invites the NYSC for the medical outreach is expected to source for drugs for use on that day,” she said.
The Coordinator called on Anambra State Association of Town Union (ASATU) Youths to sensitize their communities on NYSC collaboration with Mrs Soludo and to invite NYSC to their communities to assist rural dwellers have healthy living lifestyle.
The content of the Healthy Living pet project are nutrition, environmental sanitation, personal hygiene, relaxation, exercise, walk,health education, routine medical checkup and community shared values.
