It was celebration galore in Inland Town Onitsha, Anambra State following court’s declaration of Hon Justice Azuka of the Labour Party (LP) as the rightful Winner of Onitsha North 1 State Assembly Constituency election.
The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos dismissed the appeal by the Former Member, Hon Douglas Egbuna (Osite) of the Peoples Democratic Party and upheld the decision of the tribunal which had earlier sacked Hon Douglas Egbuna.
The Court mandated Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to with immediate effect withdraw the Certificate of Return issued to Hon Douglas Egbuna (Osite).
With this Judgement, PDP is left with only two House of Assembly Members in the Anambra State Assembly while LP number has increased to eight members while YPP is left with only three members.
As the news filtered in, many Onitsha residents who were at Imeobi for Onitsha Ado Football League went into jubilation, hugging and greeting Hon Azuka Justice.
Hon Justice Azuka is the only outsider, who is not yet sworn that has proven his electoral case in the Court and he is expected to be sworn in next week once he collects his Certificate of Return from the INEC.
