Evacuate street beggars to avert looming disaster in Anambra – NUJ tells Solido

Nigeria Union of Journalists, Anambra State Council has urged state government to find a way to evacuate street beggars at the Unizik temp site, Regina Caeli, and Arroma junctions of the Enugu-Onitsha expressway.

In an eleven-point communique issued at the end of April Congress and signed by the Chairman, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, deliberated on a wide range of issues concerning the Union, and the state at large.

Council said the call has become necessary to avert any impending disaster or catastrophe.

The Congress congratulated Governor Chukwuma Soludo-led administration for resuscitating the water scheme in the state, calling for its sustainability to ensure it served the purpose for which it was revived.

It also commended the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aderemi Adeoye, for finishing strong in his police career and thanked him for blossoming the relationship the Force has with Journalists in the state.

Congress appreciated the Police Force and other security agencies in the state for showing their presence in the fight against insecurity and urged them not to rest on their oars but to do more to eradicate kidnapping and other cult-related crimes in the state.

It also congratulated NUJ benefactor, Dr Adaora Umeoji, on her elevation to the position of Managing Director of Zenith Bank PLC.

It also celebrated with another patron, Obi Asika, Chief Executive Officer of Storm 360 Entertainment, who was appointed as the Director-General of National Council for Arts and Culture, describing their elevations as well deserved and a plus to the State NUJ Council.

Congress commended Union members for practicing professionally even with the attendant difficulties in the society, even as it mourned the death of Princess Nkiru Okolo of Zenith Bank, a benefactor to the union, praying God to grant her soul eternal rest.
