A grassroot politician, Chief Patrick Ezeanaka, reportedly kidnapped by yet-to-be-identified thugs in Anambra State, has finally regained his freedom, after spending two weeks in kidnappers den.
Ezeanaka, a native of Nanka community in Orumba North Local Government Area of the State, was said to have been whisked away by same heavily-armed thugs who assassinated the Ward 1 Chairman of the Young People’s Party (YPP) in Nanka, Chief Joseph Ezenwegbu (Joe Mohale) on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
The whereabouts of the abducted politician had remained unknown since then, while efforts were being made by security operatives to secure his safe release and also unmask the abductors.
Ezeanaka, on Friday, however regained his freedom and returned to his home safe.
His safe return was announced by his son, Mr. Henry Ezeanaka via his social media handles.
Although Ezeanaka was silent over the father’s health condition after his release, sources from Nanka however revealed that the politician looked good and fresh.
The son was also silent on circumstances surrounding his father’s abduction, neither did he mention whether a ransom was paid for his release or was granted an unconditional release.
Efforts to get further clarifications on the kidnap and release of Ezeanaka proved abortive, as his phone and that of his son were not connecting, neither did the son respond to text message sent to his phone as at the time of this publication.
When contacted, Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed Ezeanaka’s release, described it as welcome development.
He said investigations were ongoing on the matter, assuring Police commitment to hunt down and unmask tidentities of those behind the abduction.
