Alleged forgery: We’re standing by Mmesoma’s family – Anglican Church

Anglican Diocese of Nnewi, Anambra State owner of Anglican Girls Secondary School, where the embattled Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme is a student has urged the girl’s family not to be cajoled into making false comments over alleged result forgery.

It said the church was providing both spiritual and physical backing to the family and would resist any form of force to succumb to pressure as a result of their humble background.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Education Secretary of the Diocese, Henry Nduka however advised the family to be patient until final investigations were concluded.

He further said the diocese was behind state government’s efforts towards ascertaining the true position.

He said, “We’re in support of the stand of Anambra state government who had constituted panel of enquiry into the case because we trust they will stand by the truth at all times.

“We are giving both spiritual and physical backing to Mmesoma’s family and will resist any form of cajole or force to succumb to pressure just because they are from humble background.”

Synod Secretary, Ven. Geoffrey Motuanya said the school has not recorded any examination malpractice in its history, adding that the girl has been brilliant from on set.

On his part, Admin Secretary of the diocese, Ven. Chukwunonso Arinze who regretted the negative effect the matter would have on the girl, however said the church would abide by outcome of the investigations.

Meanwhile, Commissioner for Information, Paul Nwosu has refuted reports accusing Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh of inviting Department of State Security (DSS) to arrest the embattled student over alleged result forgery.

There have be media attacks on the Commissioner for inviting the DSS to pick the girl, even as others wondered why she was too quick to celebrate the other student announced by JAMB as having the highest score, 360.

Debunking the insinuation, Nwosu said, “It was when the Commissioner invited the girl and her Principal to her office and called JAMB to inquire what happened that JAMB invited the DSS into the matter.
