Why Soludo must rule 8years – APGA Chair

Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sly Ezeokenwa has assured Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo of completion of his 8-year tenure in office.

The 38-year old lawyer however expressed desire of a youth succeeding the governor after expiration of his tenure.

Speaking during a media chat with members of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the State, Ezeokenwa said the party would abide by principle of zoning to guarantee inclusiveness, equity and fairness.

He said, “As far as I’m concerned, Prof. Soludo will do eight years by the dynamics of what he’s done and dynamics of Anambra politics and several other reasons.

“It will be my most heart desire to have a young person succeeding him as governor of Anambra state. And there are so many of them in APGA.

“You know we’ve come to accept zoning in the state. Most likely when the time comes we’re going to allow for zoning to guarantee inclusiveness, equity and fairness. Besides, we must listen to the yearning of the people.”

The APGA boss further expressed his wish to enthrone APGA government in several other states of the country, but regretted that the party was challenged by “money-bag politics” mentality.

“One problem we have in Nigeria is money politics. Politicians have found a convenient way to weaponise poverty. That has always been an issue with APGA.

“People gather masses’ common patrimony which they share to them in bits during election. Even when you try to educate the voters on why their votes should be their powers, they still succumb to this same pressure of money politics.

“In APGA, we don’t have the dept of pocket to play the Nigeria style of politics. We try to mainstream leaders working for the people with the resources meant for them.

“That’s reason Anambra has maintained an ‘A’ class state over the years. If you as ask the governor, I don’t make any demand of him, absolutely none. In fact, I still go to court as a National Chairman, writing briefs,” he added.
