We won’t post you to security prone areas – NYSC assures corps members

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Anambra State has assured that no corps member would be posted to any community perceived to be insecure.

Assistant Director in charge of Corps Inspection and Monitoring, Mrs. Mbah Ogechi gave the assurance while sensitising the 2023 Batch C Stream ll Corps Members at Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbakwu, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State on the operations of the Corps Inspection and Monitoring branch of the NYSC.

“No corps member would be sent to any community perceived to be insecure.

“We don’t compromise with the security of Corps Members, so the Local Government Inspectors meet with the community leaders to ensure the security is guaranteed” she assured.

Ogechi however, advised Corps Members to ensure they have the phone numbers of the State Coordinator, Zonal and Local Government Inspectors , in case of emergencies.

She added that Corps Members should always maintain and not bypass channels of communication and respect the hierarchy whenever they want to pass information to officials.

“On no account will corps members leave their Places of Assignment unless they passed through the normal processes .  

“Corps employers are not permitted to approve any Corps members’ travelling or leaving their Places of Primary Assignment without the Corps Members routing the applications to the State Coordinator through the Zonal Inspector, through the Local Government Inspector and the Corps Employer,” she warned.

According to Ogechi, the Local Government Inspectors are saddled with the duty of coordinating the activities of the Corps Members, ensuring that Corps Members are integrated into the host communities and educating them on the rules and norms as well as the traditions of the communities.

She said it is also the of the Local Government Inspectors to carry out the biometric exercise of all Corps Members in their different Places of Primary Assignment.

“The role of Local Government Inspectors is to coordinate the activities of Corps Members in their council areas to ensure you are inculcated with the cultures and traditions as well as the norms and traditions of the communities ” Ogechi said
