Students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University HIgh School, Awka, Anambra State have won the Martin Luther King Jnr Day 2024 competition.
The competition with the theme, “What is your life’s blueprint?” was organized by US Missions in Nigeria, through American Spaces in Nigeria.
The event held at the Post Graduate School of Studies, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (Awka Window on America) was for secondary schools in Anambra State.
Presenting the Award winning students to the Vice Chancellor, Prof Charles Esimone, the principal of the High school, Mrs Isreal Atinuke praised the students who have always been known for their hardwork and excellent performance.
She thanked the VC for the huge support to the school, assuring that the high standards which the school is known for will continue to be maintained.
She said, “The academic year 2024 is promising to be a glorious year of great feat.
“The Lord has given us a sign for a token as our school emerged the first position in the 2024 edition of Martin Luther King Jr Day.
“I am so much overwhelmed with joy and gratitude to God for starting us on a very good note.
“I congratulate the student that won the competition Ezeno Chikanyinma Gemma, her team and the teacher that organized them, Mr Nwokolo Daniel.
“I encourage other students to take advantage of any opportunity that comes their way.
“No one knows too well where his strength lies but in the course of adventuring into multidimensional opportunities, that person’s potential is fine tuned.”
Responding, Vice Chancellor of the fast growing University, Prof. Charles Esimone congratulated the UNIZIK High School students who participated in this year’s Martin Luther King Jnr day 2024.
He said the feat was in keeping with the high standards for which Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka is known.
While challenging the students to up the ante, Esimone reassured the school of more support within the limit of the University’s resources.
“I challenge the students to do more. The future indeed belongs to those who work hard to achieve their dreams.
“We’ll continue to support the school within the limit of the University’s resources,” he said.
