UNIZIK-ASUU Chair Bags Rotary Community Service Award

Rotary Club of Awka GRA, District 9142 has confered an Community Service Award of Excellence In Academic Development and Empowerment to Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Comrade Stephen Ufoaroh.

Speaking on the recognition, Ufoaroh said the award was presented to him in recognition of his humanitarian services towards humanity, the University community and the society at large.

He commended the Club for the award, promising it would go a long way in motivating him to increased services to humanity.

“I commend the Rotary Club for recognising the little work I have done in affecting lives positively within my capacity. I feel happy and I’m encouraged and challenged to do more for humanity. 

“I will work with the Rotary Club to ensure the club continues it services to humanity, especially, less privileged ones in the society,” he stated.

Earlier, 2023/2024 Visionary President, Rtn Ugo Ibeanu assured that the impact of the club, under his watch, would be felt in the health sector by assisting physically challenged and flood victims whenever the need arose.

Ibeanu, the 22nd President of the District solicited for support from dignitaries at the occasion to enable the Club execute its mapped out projects for the year.

He also called on members to be part of the crusade to make life more meaningful to the less privileged in the society.

Immediate past President, Rtn Danason Ndubuisi said the club contributed a lot to assisting humanity while he held sway.

He thanked members for the support given to him, urging them to extend same to his successor who he described as Visionary President to enable him perform more than he did.

The occasion also witnessed induction of new members into the Club.
