Traders hail Soludo over construction of Ekwulobia flyover

Traders at Ekwulobia Central market/motor Park have commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the construction of flyover bridge at Ekwulobia round-about, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

They said the facility would curtail the constant traffic gridlock experienced in the area.

Former chairman of the motor Park, Chief Peter Okeke, said they have endured the pain of the demolition that took place in the area following governor’s compensation to those affected.

“I am a tenant but the landlords affected in the demolition have been compensated and we have all endorsed the construction of the flyover because it is a good thing that will ease traffic congestion.

“Initially, it was a big problem to demolish the structures but the construction will ease off traffic congestion.

“We commend our able governor and plead to him to relocate us to an alternative place, we also commend Chief Joseph Ezeokafor, ( Nwachinaemelu N’ Ekwulobia), the CEO of JEZCO group of companies, for giving us a place to stay. We rejoice with him in the celebration of his tripartite events,” he stated.

Okeke, who is also contesting for the Ekwulobia general market election expressed optimism that his achievements would speak for him to victory come the election day.

Also reacting on the flyover construction, secretary of Ekwulobia Traders and Allied Workers, (park unit), Mr. Mathew Chinedu Igwe, said that with the construction, the governor has saved the people from constant gridlock always experienced there.

“We welcome the construction but abinitio it was difficult for us but he promised to complete it within a year and six months.

“The governor should relocate us to a place because we are stranded now, we have been sacked and if it rains most of us who no longer have lockup shops will feel the pains most.

“Presently I am in the open space and I deal in mattresses and other household materials. Chief Joseph Ezeokafor has just given us a place and we thank him and plead that we need to be remembered as traders in Ekwulobia.

“Governor when he visited this place told us that it was unfortunate that one who comes from Lagos will spend three hours in Ekwulobia because of hold up and that is why he is building the fly-over, to ease traffic gridlock and we thank him for that,” he stated.

On the coming general election he said that it was to be held last November but was stopped when the new government came on board adding that the former chairman, Chief Peter Okeke, would emerge victorious having achieved a lot when he was in office.
