Demolition: Stop playing politics with developmental strategies – Anambra deputy governor

Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachi Ibezim on Sunday cautioned against playing politics with developmental strategies of the Governor Chukwuma Soludo-led government.

He said the current administration had demonstrated increasing concern for the total welbeing of the citizenry, including ongoing demolition exercise targeted at restoring sanity across the state.

Reacting to comments on the exercise shortly after a church service at Our Saviours Anglican Church, Awka, Ibezim said no government would have more human face than the present administration of the state.

He said, “We must maintain a sane society. Our people love things done the hard way. It wasn’t just an immediate and sudden exercise. I see all manner of things in the media.

“These people have been warned over and over again. Yet they prefer to trade within areas that pose great threats to their lives and those of others.

“Why not go to the appropriate authorities for proper allocation which are made public? When some of us travel abroad, we’re excited about the beauty of the cities. We pay to visit those cities.

“Let people stop playing politics with the ongoing exercise. There’s no government that will have more human face than the present government of Anambra State.

“The same government that started with employment of 5000 youths and another 3000 ongoing; training and empowering youths in different fields, including education and healthcare, distribution of palliatives, among others is being accused of no human face.

“I repeat, please let people stop playing politics with developmental strategies. We’re not talking about APGA or any other party, but people coming together to make this state a liveable and prosperous homeland.

The deputy governor further cautioned youths against viewing christianity and education as scam, enjoining them to remain steadfast and patient with God for their successes in life.

He said, “God is everywhere, as far as Christianity is concerned. What we’re fighting is idolatry. Once you keep running from one church to another, you stand the risk of losing total faith in Christ.

“The governor has been steadfast in his fight against all forms of criminality, including those living in the bush and shrines with human and sacrifices.

“The challenge is getting these youths out and being gainfully employed and keeping their eyes on Christ. We’re not necessarily interested in which Church they worship because we profess ecumenism.

“For me, God has been faithful. I started as a medical doctor, joined politics and became deputy governor, I wonder any other God that can do this for me

“It must not be a smooth ride all the time. Sometimes it’s rough, but don’t say christianity is scam when it’s rough. Instead, it’s strengthening you for greater things ahead.

“Some youths even say education is a scam, yet the same people apply for teaching and other jobs because the job is meant for the educated and graduates.

“The problem with our youths is impatience. Our young people must learn to be patient because the God we’re serving is a patient God.”
