Prioritize Corps Members’ Security, Welfare – NYSC Urges Host Communities 

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Anambra State has appealed to community stakeholders to prioritise the security and welfare of corps members serving in their communities in order to maximize their potential.

State Coordinator, Mrs Blessing Iruma who made the call in a chat with newsmen noted that harnessing potential of corps members remained catalyst for development of communities and their people.

She assured corps members’ readiness to fill the vacuum targeted at development of the people, especially those in rural communities.

She appealed for maximum support for them to bring out their individual talents and professionalism to excel and improve the state.

Iruma disclosed that the scheme had initiated efforts to rekindle the corps members’ spirit to perform community development services, describing it as strategy to creating lasting legacies in their host communities.

She further commended the innovation of the “One Youth, Two Skills” initiative of the Governor Chukwuma Soludo-led administration, aimed at empowering and equipping the youths with different skills as well as fostering self-reliance and entrepreneurship.

“The initiative will also equip young individuals with practical skills that will enhance their employability and entrepreneurial spirit as it addresses the need for diversified talents in today’s competitive landscape and skill development in the state,” she added.

Acknowledging that over 100 slots allocated to NYSC members in the state have already been filled, the NYSC boss expressed hope that the initiative would assist them expand their skill beyond their primary academic disciplines at the same time bridge gaps between formal and practical education and hands-on skills needed for today’s dynamic job market.
