The Transition Committee Chairman of Onitsha South Local Government Area, Hon Emeka Orji has reiterated his commitment in pursuit of shared objective of advancing the well-being and progress of the Onitsha South council.
Hon. Orji stated this while inspecting the ongoing construction and beautification works around major roundabout and junctions in Onitsha South Metropolis.
The area inspected includes ongoing beautification of Otigba Junction, rehabilitation of Creek and Arondizogu road by Orlu street and Balewa street roundabout, construction of Porthacourt road, beautification of Uzodimma by Nkrumah street roundabout and beautification of Mbonu Ojukwu/Urban Girls Secondary School road by Fegge, all in Onitsha South local government area by Hon. Emeka Orji.
Speaking during the inspection, Hon. Emeka expressed deep appreciation for the visible developmental efforts of governor Soludo especially in education and health sector, commended the governor’s undeniable commitment to enhancing security, peace and progress in the greater Onitsha area.
He applauded the governor’s recent move in launching of the State Anti Touting Squad, noting that it is a laudable steps to ensure that the people are protected from unauthorized persons who have been collecting levies from the traders in one way or the other and as well unlawfully acting on behalf of government.
He however lamented that over the time these unauthorized persons have continued to distablize the system set up by the State Government towards revenue collection by collecting levies and tolls along highways and roads.
Hon Orji noted that the State Government with the new development will succeed in completely dislodging the criminal activities of miscreants who by deploying various deceptive tactics to extort money from traders and commercial vehicles plying highways have posed a serious threat to Ndi Anambra and her visitors.
He emphasized that securing a better society for Ndị Anambra is one of the agenda of the Prof. Soludo led administration and reiterated resolve towards disruptive innovation and positive transformation and development.
Hon. Orji also assured of his total commitment to transforming and promoting Onitsha South council area to the next level. He promised to diligently work towards helping Mr. Governor in building a livable, prosperous smart mega city and called other stakeholders to key into Governor Soludo’s positive transformation agenda.
Also speaking, the lead engineer in the ongoing reconstruction and beautification of Onitsha South Council Area, Engr. Hillary Ndukwu Oshibe who also double as the MD Ohankwu Engineering Company Ltd commended the move by the governor against touting noting that it will enable residents carryout their business and other commercial and private activities peacefully.
He noted his satisfaction with the ongoing reconstruction and beautification work in the council area, noting that Hon. Emeka is working hard to leave a good legacy for his predecessor and urge him to continue the with the good works.. He advice the state government and the Nigeria government to continue to patronise local contractors for quality delivery and service assurance in their various construction projects.
