Archbishop Ibezim dedicates batcher- turned A/C church built in 4months

The New Jerusalem Church, (Anglican Communion), Diocese of Awka, Anambra State has been dedicated by the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger, Most Rev Dr Alexander Ibezim.

The church located at Ngozika Housing Estate Phase 2, Awka, started from a batcher, but suddenly metamorphosised to an Air-conditioned church within four months, courtesy of Dr. Victor and Barr. Mrs Chinenye Agumadu.

Dedicating the church, Archbishop Ibezim congratulated the parishioners for being first beneficiaries of the edifice, just as he thanked those who played various roles towards quick completion.

He assured them that their contributions, spiritually, financially and otherwise would not go unrewarded, urging them not to relent as more work were yet to be done.

“We Thank the benefactor, Dr. Victor Agumadu, his wife Chinenye and several others who contributed in one way or another to the completion of the church within short limited time.

“No man can pay you back except God. I’m glad with the quality of membership of this church. Together, you people will take this church to higher level,” he added.

Earlier, the financier of the project, Dr. Victor Agumadu described his commitment to the church as call to duty, appreciating God for the grace to respond accordingly.

He said, “I was just an instrument that made himself available for God to use. From the beginning of the project till finish, God provided all the money and materials within the four months of its completion.

“The building of this edifice was not without challenges, including the falling of the roof after we were done with POP and wiring. The entire roofing materials were condemned. We had to start all over again.

“But I’m happy and fulfilled. Yet there are lots to do for God and humanity. We’re just starting. God’s work is a continuum. You can’t do one and stop.

“But one thing I detest is recognition or taking accolades. If there’s anyway I would have avoided my face from appearing in this dedication, I would have done it.

“Even the nighthood the bishop pronounced on me, I’ll still decline it because I’ve not done enough to be recognized.

“I’ve done several projects, including churches and schools, grants to schools, scholarships, set up businesses, these things are between me and God.

“I encourage others to follow suit. Whatever God gives us is for us to share with others.”

Also speaking, Resident Priest, Rev  Dr. Emmanuel Ogbuefi described the feat as answered prayers, thanking God for raising the financier who made himself available for the work.

“We met a batcher church, but today the story is now different. I’m so elated and give God praise who made this possible through his servants,” he said.

The cleric called on his colleagues to trust and have confidence in God to perfect what he started in their respective churches.

“The Lord is the owner and doer of his work. Many times, we want to assist God do his work, but it doesn’t work that way. Do your work and expect the best outcome,” he added.
