Don’t discriminate against PWDs – Seadogs urges NGOs

National Association of Seadogs Onitsha Chapter, Anambra State has called on Non-governmental organizations to provide employment for person with disabilities instead of discriminating against them based on their shortcomings.

President of the Association, Engr Emeka Uwaechia made the call in Onitsha, Anambra State while delivering a Seminar themed, “Disability not a Limit to Ability” as part of activities to commemorate International day for persons with disability.

He challenged PWDs to develop and transform their skills to abilities, stressing that such development of skills would eventually eliminate their disabilities.

He assured them of his group’s continued assistance when and where necessary.

“You people are free to contact National Association of Seadogs anytime you are faced with critical challenges.

“We shall always welcome you people and we will try our best to assist you people in time of need,” he added

Another member of the Association, Elder Chima Egeonu urged the PWDs never to give up, stressing that, “the only period someone can be called a disable is when he or she dies.”

Some of the PWDs were engaged by the group, including registering them for Computer training program at Tetra Dipole Computers Training Center at Onitsha whose Managing director is also a person with disability.

Responding, President of the Person Living With Disabilities, Onitsha council, Mr  Emmanuel Chude thanked Seadogs for the opportunity offered to his members, pleading for empowerment of the beneficiaries at the end of the training.

Mr Peter Aduba informed the PWDs that the program is a United Nations yearly program that falls within the sustainable development goals (SDG) for development of the society.
