Yuletide: Council Boss Hosts maiden Christmas Carols, Cultural Festival

It was jubilation galore at the Njikoka Local Government Area Headquarters, Abagana as people from all walks of life gathered to celebrate their Christmas carols and cultural festival amidst fun fair.

The event organised by Transition Committee Chairman, Hon Clems Aguiyi attracted  Community Leaders and Stakeholders from the six communities that made up the area.

Other top Government Officials/Political Office Holders and students from both mission and public schools featured in various activities with lots of Christmas songs and cultural performances.

In his Christmas message, Aguiyi said the gathering was to reflect on the significance of the season to Christians and to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the people.

He expressed joy for being part of the event designed to impact on the peoples lives, noting that it was the first time such is being held in the area.

He wished the people a Merry Christmas celebration, believing the season would bring greater good to them even as they enjoy the status of the area as the cleanest local government area in the state.

Hon Aguiyi further disclosed that his administration has recorded substantial progress with the construction of Playground/Recreational facilities for children at the Council’s Secretariat and many other ongoing infrastructural projects.

Some guests, including a Former Member of the State House of Assembly,Hon Lilian Okosi and the Principal, Okutalukwe Community Secondary School, Enugwu Ukwu,Mrs Caroline Ikwumelu, commended the organiser for staging the event.

According to Mrs Ikwumelu, “We are very happy for this gesture by Our amiable Transition Committee Chairman.He has made a very great impact to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and to show the importance of our culture.We are proud of him,he is doing well”

Highlights of the event were musical rendition, cultural displays by students, cutting of Christmas Cake and presentation of prizes winners of 2023 Njikoka” Speak and Inspire Competition” St Michael’s Secondary School, Nimo, Comprehensive Secondary School, Nawfia and Stella Maris Secondary School, Abagana.

Dignitaries in attendance were Deputy Chief of Staff to Gov Soludo,Chinedu Nwoye, Special Adviser To Gov Soludo on Security Matters,Rtd Air Vice Marshall, Ben Chiobi, Hon Chidi Ibemeka,Hon Jude Akpua,Hon Lilian Okosi amongst others.
