WTO contest: APC congratulates Okonjo-Iweala ahead DG victory

The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Anambra State has congratulated former Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala over her emergence in a final two-horse historical race to usher her as the first female Director General of the World Trade Organisation.

The party in a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary, Arc. Okelo Madukaife also hailed President Muhammadu Buhari, the federal government and Nigerias for the rare recognition which it described as one more bright feathers in the foreign policy wins of the present administration.

The statement read, “Our great party and our dynamic chapter share the joy of the emergence of Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala in a final two-horse historical race to usher in the first female Director General of the World Trade Organisation.

“It is one of those golden moments that establishes that Nigeria not only has potentials but a lot of feats in human capacity.

“We congratulate Dr. Okonjo-Iweala, President Muhammadu Buhari, the government and peoples of Nigeria for this rare recognition so far and consider it one more bright feathers in the foreign policy wins of this administration.

“We however note that the lobby should be intensified as the tape is yet to be breasted. We look forward to greater wins ahead.”
