World Hunger Index: India ranks 101 out of 116 countries

The Global Hunger Index for 2021 has been released and it showed that India is ranked 101 out of 116 countries. Behind Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Over the last few years, India has been in a deplorable state in terms of poverty.

India dropped to 101 in the 2021 hunger index from 94 position in the previous year 2020

The list was jointly prepared by the German organization Welt Hunger Hilfe and the Irish relief organization Concern World Wide. In the list of hunger and malnutrition, 16 countries like China, Brazil and Kuwait are in the best position and their GHI score is below 5.

The index is based on four factors. These are malnutrition, height, mortality, weight compared to height in children under five years of age. However, while India’s overall position is extremely disappointing, it has improved in a number of areas. Such as mortality rate or malnutrition rate under five years of age. At the same time, it has been observed that the lockdown occasioned by Coronavirus has had a profound effect on the public life of India. Overall, the Indian fight against hunger is not going in the right direction.
