Woman, others escape death as speeding 911 rams into road demarcation in Anambra

Three persons escaped death in a motor accident in front of Building Materials, along Nteje-Onitsha expressway, Anambra state.

The accident which occurred around 3.25pm Mercedes Benz 911 with the three passengers on board.

The victims were said to have sustained varying degrees of injury and were rushed to the hospital.

Confirming the incident, Sector Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, Pascal Anigbo blamed the crash on excess speed.

He said, “At about 3.25pm today Tuesday 16 June, 2020 a serious lone Road Traffic Crash (RTC) involving a Mercedes Benz 911 with registration number XB206AGU was recorded in front of Building Materials, along Nteje-Onitsha expressway.

“The crash was caused by Speeding and Loss of Control. An eyewitness confirmed that the driver of the 911, which rammed into the concrete road demarcation was unable to control the vehicle, due to excess speed.

“A total of Three people (2 male adults and 1 female adult) were involved in the crash. They all sustained some degrees of injuries. They were rushed to Iyi-Enu Specialist Hospital, Ogidi by an FRSC rescue team from Nteje Unit Command.

“The team is also managing traffic at the scene and ensuring that the obstruction caused is cleared.

“The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, Andrew A. Kumapayi warns drivers against driving above recommended speed limits and admonishes them to always drive with “common sense” speed limits, especially within built-up areas.

“Most Road Traffic Crashes are avoidable. He wishes the injured victims quick recovery.”
